Tennessee is an adorable, special Shih Tzu boy, about 6 1/2-7 years old and
13-14 pounds. He has been at the shelter for almost his entire life. He arrived with behavioral issues, which have dramatically improved over the past year, as he has been receiving consistent love and extra attention from our volunteers. It has been a joy to watch Tennessee transform into a trusting, loving, sweet and playful boy.
Tennessee’s main dislikes are having his face touched or being held too long. He is generally not aggressive, but will bite if someone is overly attentive to his face or holds him when he is struggling to be released. Otherwise, he has learned to trust cooperative humans and absolutely adores attention. Tennessee loves to go for leash walks and also enjoys romping in the yard. He has become affectionate and gives kisses, and also engages joyfully in playtime (see video). He is very treat motivated. Tennessee gets along with other dogs but would be fine as the only dog in his new home.
If you believe you are great match for Tennessee, please put in an application today. You will probably have to come and spend time with Tennessee more than once for him to fully trust you and be his best self.
